ACPA 2010 Cultural Study Tour to Ghana • June 5-19

Tour Description

Part of our role as college student educators is to help prepare students for a global society. ACPA’s 2010 Cultural Study Tour to Ghana will help you learn about student services and the higher education system and Ghanaian culture. Participants will visit six regions of the country and end the tour at old world Accra.

Join ACPA and colleagues from across the country on this culturally stimulating 14-day journey to learn and share with college student educators on the other side of the world!

Study Tour Features

The cultural study tour will offer lectures from university professors and administrators at the University of Ghana, University of Cape Coast, and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. Additional campuses may be added. The tour group will visit the cities of Accra, Kumasi, Tamale, Mole, Bolgatanga, and Cape Coast. Participants will also tour the Dr. W.E.B. DuBois Center, Aburi Botanical Gardens, Kakum National Park, Mole National Game Park, Cape Coast Castle, and the West African Historical Museum. Experience the historic remnants of the slave holdings – a painful and sad reminder of the tragedies of the transatlantic slave trade.

Graduate students in higher education or related programs can gain three (3) hours of academic credit through their home institutions.

Download the tentative schedule (PDF) for the 2010 Ghana Study Tour here.

Graduate students also have the option to seek academic credit through their home institution. Students should check with their academic advisor about the possibility or internship of independent study credit.
