PROGRAM STATEMENT

The College Student Development Program at Oklahoma State University is a premier student affairs masters program in the United States, known for producing scholar-practitioners committed to applying research and student development theory to sound, ethical student affairs practice.
The College Student Development Program provides a rigorous educational experience to students who will make a difference through the leadership of student affairs organizations within colleges and universities nationwide.
Through our Masters of Science degree in College Student Development, we provide the educational experience necessary to analyze the many facets of college student development and the many issues that a wide diversity of students face during their college career.
The CSD Program seeks to enroll academically talented leaders who will learn and grow from our in and out of class experiences.   Our program attracts students from across the United States who seek to study student affairs from a student development perspective.   We seek those who will significantly impact their institutions and the student affairs profession throughout their career through organizational leadership, scholarship, conference activity, and those who want to have a profound impact on the lives of college students.

Strong Academics

The master's degree program in College Student Development at  Oklahoma State University offers you a rigorous classroom experience with ample opportunities to explore deep questions about college students.   Choose our master's thesis option to discover and contribute your own knowledge to the field, do research with a faculty member and other students, or join a team of other emerging scholars as they make a presentation at a state or regional conference. Discover the scholar within you at OSU!

Making Scholar-Practitioners

In the CSD program at OSU, we provide students with a scholarly background so that they can be the best student affairs practitioners they can be.   We have a strong focus in our coursework on College Student Development theory.   You will learn theory and research about how   students develop and engage in learning experiences on how to apply it to student affairs practice.   Classroom exercises will focus on making theory-to-practice connections.   Assistantships give you the chance to connect what you learn in the classroom to real life student issues.   Two separate internship experiences will give you the chance to apply what you have learned in different student affairs settings.   This all happens here at OSU!
