PROGRAM STATEMENT

The Master's Program in Student Development Administration prepares students to meet the needs of changing student populations, develop techniques for fostering diversity in the college setting, and evaluate, develop and affirm individual leadership skills and values. Our program engages students in the latest research, assessment, and evaluation practices including a student-led, peer reviewed journal to showcase graduate student research and best practice. In graduate assistantships and internships, students work with diverse populations as part of our commitment to social justice.   We offer course and internship opportunities for engagement in local, national and global contexts.   Seattle University's SDA program blends academic coursework with practical experience in the field.   Our graduates are sought after and well-prepared for the student affairs profession. The program meets the criteria for graduate preparation programs in student affairs established by the Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education.   The program incorporates the Jesuit mission of Seattle University into its coursework and professional practice opportunities, particularly the values of social justice, multi-cultural diversity, global education, leadership formation, and academic excellence. Course are taught by nationally recognized faculty with varying specializations and enriched by a collaborative multidisciplinary approach to learning.
