The ACPA Governing Board Response To Concerns Raised About The 2010 Boston Convention Marketing Strategy

Earlier this year members of the Association – particularly from the Standing Committee for Women and the Native American Network – raised concerns about the marketing strategy and its symbols for the Boston
2010 Convention that were offensive. Please accept our sincere apology as elected members to the ACPA Governing Board, for any ill will or offense caused by the 2010 marketing strategy.

ACPA strives to be inclusive and we know there are many lessons to be learned from this experience. In the coming months and throughout future leadership meetings, the ACPA Governing Board and others will
continue to work to find ways to improve the processes for all voices to be heard. As an association we will also continue to work with the Assembly Leadership to look more closely at how we may best support our
many constituency groups, including standing committees and networks.

During the Boston 2010 Convention there will be both opportunities to become better educated on these concerns and about the processes for addressing these concerns. Details of these opportunities will be
forthcoming.

The ACPA Governing Board appreciates the work of the many leaders who sought to bring a resolution to the concerns raised by our members. There were many voices on this subject and many volunteer leaders of the Association did their best to try and develop a resolution. Again, we appreciate the efforts of everyone on this difficult matter and for our members in bringing these concerns to our attention.

Thank you for your commitment to ACPA and please accept our apologies.
