About Susan Salvador

Dr. Susan Salvador is vice president of student services, at Monroe Community College (MCC) in Rochester, New York and is MCC’s representative to the League for Innovation in the Community College.

Dr. Salvador served as a contributing author to Learning Reconsidered: A Campus-wide Focus on the Student Experience, a joint American College Personnel Association (ACPA) and National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) publication, as well as served on the national writing team to produce the inventory statements for the Principles of Good Practice for Student Affairs, sponsored by ACPA and NASPA. She has also written articles on the impact and philosophical change of residence halls on two year colleges.

Dr. Salvador serves as President of ACPA (2010-2011) and will serve as Past President for 2011-2012. She is a Trustee of the ACPA Educational Leadership Foundation Board. She serves as President of the board of Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) in Rochester, New York and is a member of the National Advisory Group (NAG) for the National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID) at Rochester Institute of Technology.

Dr. Salvador recently was a finalist for the 2010 Athena Award sponsored by the Rochester Business Alliance Women’s Council. She received a Certificate of Merit from the New York State Assembly for her significant contributions to the student personnel profession, the Outstanding Contribution to the Profession Award from the College Student Personnel Association in New York, the ACPA Diamond Honoree Award, the Mildred Bulpitt Woman of the Year Award by the American Association for Women in Community Colleges, and she was inducted into the MCC Sports Hall of Fame.

She has a doctorate in higher education/administration from The University of Michigan, a master’s in student personnel/counseling from The Pennsylvania State University, and a bachelor’s in psychology from Siena College.
