Commission for Admissions, Orientation and First Year Experience

The Commission serves professionals who facilitate new student enrollment and adjustment. These roles include professionals who work in student affairs, academic affairs, and enrollment management as well as those who teach, research, and assess issues affiliated with new student transitions. The work of the Commission is intended to reinforce the notion that college and university transition services work best as an integrated, intentionally-connected, comprehensive process.

The AOFYE body provides opportunities for professional development, networking, research and assessment, community building, acknowledgement of best practices and model programs, and collaboration among its members.

As such, the Commission for AOFYE:

  • sponsors an annual research grant,
  • presents up to 5 professional & program awards each year,
  • offers a series of sponsored programs at the annual convention,
  • publishes a quarterly newsletter,
  • maintains an informational website,
  • coordinates a professional mentorship program,
  • provides and promotes professional development opportunities,
  • maintains a presence in ACPA governance & decision-making,
  • & partners with other national and regional organizations to:
    • offer professional development, research, and publication opportunities, and
    • respond to the need for information among our Commission membership and ACPA at large.
