Our Mission

The Commission for Alcohol and Other Drug Issues assists its members and the ACPA leadership to be informed, educated, empowered and supported as they strive to improve the quality of campus and community life. Alcohol and Other Substance use permeates all functional areas on campus. Regardless of your position, we’re here to help!

When it comes to AOD prevention, there is no “one size-fits all”
approach that works.

Successful prevention traditionally includes:

Universal Prevention Programs for the entire campus community. Examples may include online education programs, social norms and social marketing campaigns, peer education.

Targeted Prevention Programs for at-risk groups like first year
students, members of Greek life organization or student athletes.

Indicated Prevention Programs for higher risk individuals, including those with judicial sanctions. One example is a brief motivational interview programs like BASICS; another includes required educational classes.

Environmental Management Strategies examine institutional and community factors that influence individual health choices and community culture. Environmental management may include task forces, community coalitions, limiting sales of alcohol, and other policies and procedures.
