ACPA Announces Institutional Leadership Councils Program

ACPA is pleased to announce an exciting new program for senior-level professionals!

Institutional Leadership Councils will be inaugurated at the ACPA Annual Convention in Louisville, KY in March, 2012. These councils will provide a forum for Vice Presidents of Student Affairs, Deans of Students and other ranking campus administrators to gather and discuss critical issues that are facing senior administrators on campuses similar to their own.

The goals of the Institutional Leadership Councils are to:

  • Create year-round networking opportunities for members to meet with colleagues to share information and perspectives on how specific issues are being addressed at institutions similar to the member’s institution;
  • Offer meaningful opportunities for senior student affairs officers to convene to advance individual professional practice under the organizational umbrella of ACPA,
  • Improve the mechanisms for meaningful engagement between senior student affairs officers and ACPA, with a focus on building a strategic agenda for ACPA programming for senior level leaders.

The first five (5) Institutional Leadership Councils will be organized by the following institution types:

  • Large research universities
  • Mid-size comprehensive colleges and universities
  • Small colleges
  • Community colleges
  • Institutions serving historically under-represented groups

ACPA is committed to bringing student affairs leaders together to address their professional development needs and help them better serve their institutions and the college students they educate. Additional councils may be formed in the future to further reflect the diversity of colleges and universities world-wide and to further advance meaningful dialogue and professional development.

If you are interested in participating in one of the councils at the ACPA Annual Convention in Louisville, KY this March, please email ACPA Vice President, Dr. Keith Humphrey at khumphrey@arizona.edu with your name and council of choice, to reserve your space in this new leadership opportunity.
