
Dr. Kathleen G. Kerr serves as the Director of Residence Life and has a secondary appointment as an Assistant Professor in the College of Education and Human Development at the University of Delaware in Newark, DE. Previous positions she has held include Associate Director of Residence Life, Assistant Director of Residence Life, and Area Coordinator – all at the University of Delaware. At UD she serves as the co-Chair of the UD Sustainability Task Force and teaches a First Year Seminar each fall, in addition to graduate classes.
Kathleen’s involvement with ACPA began when she was elected to serve on the directorate of the Commission for Housing and Residential Life, which she chaired from 2006-2008. She served on the ACPA Presidential Task Force on Sustainability from 2006-2010. While on the Task Force, she was the editor of the ACPA monograph, Toward a Sustainable Future: The Role of Student Affairs in Creating Healthy Environments, Social Justice, and Strong Economies. She served as Chair of the Program Team for the 2009 Convention in Metro Washington DC, and as the co-Chair of the Program Team for the 2011 Convention in Baltimore, MD.
This is Kathleen’s second term on ACPA’s Governing Board, having previously served as the Director of Membership Development from 2009-2012. During that time she chaired the Globalization ACPA Committee which led the Association in the development of a Globalization Strategic Plan. Kathleen is the proud recipient of the Indiana University Department of Higher Education and Student Affairs, Elizabeth A. Greenleaf Distinguished Alumnus Award, and was an ACPA Diamond Honoree, both in 2010.
Kathleen attended Indiana University in Bloomington, IN where she received both her BA in Psychology and her MS in College Student Personnel Administration. In 1998 she earned her Ed.D in Educational Leadership from the University of Delaware. Kathleen and her husband of 23 years have four daughters, and two dogs.
